In real-time, a live transcript, Hamburg, 2009
In real-time attempted to create an ever-growing archive of present moments, a transcript of life as it is happening inside the space over the course of a day. Assuming the role of a sportscaster or an ethnographer and using the existing infrastructure as a framing device, i tried to describe and document in text all that i could see. This typed transcript was projected live inside the space, creating a second text-based version of “reality”. The inherent impossibility of documenting everything is expressed in the misunderstandings and gaps between what is happening and what can possibly be described and recorded, and it is right there where the live transcript began to interfere with the life around it…
